Alice Nitch, 94, of Taylor, died Friday at the VNA Hospice Unit at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Her husband, Henry Nitch, died in January, 1993.

Born in Taylor, daughter of the late Charles and Caroline Butcher Polinosky, she was a member of St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral.
Surviving are a son, Ronald Nitch and wife, Karen, Gouldsboro; a daughter, Cheryl Mateychick and husband, John, Scranton; a granddaughter, Susan Nitch, Gouldsboro; three sisters, Lottie Yackobovicz, Irene Schofield and Florence Bonk; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by seven brothers, Frank, Edward, John, Matthew, Roman, Ernest and Joseph; and two sisters, Ella Raymond and Mary Zuby.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Leon S. Gorgol Funeral Home, 1131 Pittston Ave., with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Polish National Catholic Cathedral. Interment, parish cememtery.
Friends may call Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Renovation Fund, 529 E. Locust St., Scranton, PA 18505.
