Patronella "Pat" Janinek, 81, formerly of Hemlock Avenue, Carbondale, died Sunday at the Regional Hospital of Scranton. She was the wife of Joseph M. Janinek. The couple would have been married for 59 years on July 9.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Anthony and Mieczlawa Czajowski Jablonowski, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, class of 1951, Carbondale. She was a member of the Scranton Cursillo, Divine Mercy Prayer Group, the Cottage Hose Ladies Auxiliary, and an assistant Girl Scouts leader. Before her retirement, she was employed in the Jermyn Dress Factory. She was also a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union.
Family meant everything to her from the big celebrations to the simple phone calls from family and friends. She suffered so much, but was so thankful for the love and care provided by the doctors and nurses of Regional Hospital. She and Dad shared a love for each other, which was reflected in all of her family.
Also surviving are her five children, Joseph F. Janinek and wife, Karen, Rochester, N.Y.; Karen Burgio and husband, Joseph, Greenfield Twp.; Lisa Emmett and husband, Mark, Carbondale; Michael Janinek and wife, Mary Ellen, Lansdale; and Sue Tolerico and husband, Mike, Carbondale; 11 grandchildren, Matthew and Krista Janinek, Lauren Farber and husband, William; Kaitlin Burgio and fiancé, Kevin Tuffy; Jenna Burgio, Alyssa Williams and husband, Jason; Ryan Emmett and wife, Becky; Michael, Jordan and Marcus Janinek and Sarah Tolerico; three great-grandchildren, Sophia Farber, Nathan Emmett and Piper Williams; a brother, Joseph Jablonowski, Apalachin, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Edward and Anthony Jablonowski; three sisters, Jean Guszack, Regina Mucksavage and Stasia Strumsky.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. Entombment, Our Mother of Sorrows Mausoleum, Finch Hill.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
