William "Pop" Cahill, Lakeville, died Monday evening at Regional Hospital of Scranton after being stricken ill. His wife, the former Mary Johnson, died in 1999.

Born in Philadelphia, son of the late Martin and Mary Hoey Cahill, he was a truck driver for A&P. He lived in Kearny, N.J., until 1982, then moved to Madisonville, where he lived until 2011 when he moved in with his daughter and her husband in Lakeville. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Church, Moscow and St. Thomas More Church, Lake Ariel. He was a veteran of the Army serving during the Korean Conflict from 1959 to 1961.

He was an avid New York Giants fan. He enjoyed playing pool and telling jokes.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Black and her husband, Scott of Lakeville; a brother, Dan Cahill of New Jersey; a sister, Anne Gallagher of Philadelphia; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Billy Cahill; brothers, Martin, Thomas and Jack; and sisters, Patricia Parkinson and Elizabeth Jones.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, 105 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, N.J.
