Donald E. Williams, 80, of Lake Ariel, died Tuesday at Commonwealth Hospice at Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. He and his wife, the former Alberta Arkow, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary in April.

Born in Ledgedale, son of the late James and Helena Hanlon Williams, he graduated from Hawley High School, class of 1951. Don served in the Air Force, stationed in Germany from 1952 to 1956. Don retired from Ford Motor Co., Mahwah, N.J., and Platzl Brauhaus, Pomona, N.Y. He was a member of American Legion Post 178 Murrells Inlet, S.C., and VFW Post 5207, Daleville.
Don was a true and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be greatly missed.
Also surviving are a daughter, Amelia Gomez and her husband, Edward, Eastport, N.Y.; granddaughters, Erin, Tara and Kelly; and several cousins.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, James.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 305 St. Mary's Church Road, Lake Ariel. Anyone attending Mass is asked to go directly to the church.
Friends may call Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel. Interment, St. Mary's Cemetery, Ledgedale.
