Anthony Marcheona Sr., 82, of West Scranton, died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton. His wife of 64 years is the former Louise Santos.

Born in Taylor, son of the late Anthony and Anna Rose Ciano Marcheona, he was educated in Scranton schools and was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War, serving with 196th Infantry Regiment, Tank Assembly, he served for a total of eight-and-a-half years, five in the reserves. Before his retirement, he was employed by the Bechtel Power Corp. and had previously worked for Erie-Lackawanna Railroad.
Anthony was a truly devoted, hardworking and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather of one. He enjoyed gardening and loved to dance, winning many awards for his dancing expertise, always ready to help anyone in need. He was loved and will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family and friends.
Also surviving are two daughters, Gail Arvonio, Scranton; and Rose, New York; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony Marcheona, in February 2013.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Guido-Fiorillo Funeral Home, 120 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Lucy's Church, 949 Scranton St., Scranton. Entombment with military honors will follow in the Marcheona family mausoleum at Cathedral Cemetery.
