Philip Barletta Sr. of West Scranton died Tuesday morning at Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA at Regional Hospital. He and his wife, the former Marion Murray, celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary on April 21.

Born in Exeter, son of the late Milano and Filomena Bucchieri Barletta, he made his residence in Scranton at an early age and received his education. He was an Army veteran and served in World War II. Following his service time, he began his career as a bricklayer, working out of the local Union 5. He was employed by numerous area contractors including J.J. Palumbo. Philip enjoyed his work and took great pride in it.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, West Scranton. Bricklayers and Allied Craft Workers Union Local 5.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He enjoyed bowling on many local teams and making trips to the casinos in Atlantic City. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Also surviving are two sons, Philip Jr. and wife, Kathleen, Apex, N.C.; and Michael and wife, Regina, Blandon, Pa.; two daughters, Pat Horrocks and husband, Willy, Scranton; and Jean Barletta and husband, Ed, Scranton; eight grandchildren, Philip III, Will, Tracey, Emily, Jessica, Matthew, Dylan and Madison; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Bogus, Taylor; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Anthony and Carmen.
The funeral will be Friday from the Carl J. Savino Funeral Home, 157 S. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, Jackson Street, Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m.
