Joseph Lewis Brussell, 83, of Honesdale, died Sunday at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He is survived by his wife, the former Ann Smith.

Born Sept. 12, 1930, in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Leo Brussell and Mary Helen Morgan Brussell Doherty.

After the death of his father, Joe began working on the family farm at a young age to help his mother.

He continued working on the farm and later began buying and selling used machinery.

Also surviving are his son, Joseph Leo Brussell; daughters, Cynthia Williams, Constance Donat and Debra McLaud; a brother, William Doherty; sisters, Patricia Miller and Frances Romich; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery.

Friends may visit Tuesday, 9 to 9:30, at Hessling Funeral Home Inc., 428 Main St., Honesdale.
