Marie Lavina Giannetta, 94, of Dunmore, died Monday morning at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pennsylvania. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Giannetta. They had been married for 55 years.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Arthur and Marie McLaughlin Parsons, Marie was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She cherished her role as wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. One of her greatest delights was caring for her grandchildren. She enjoyed all family gatherings, Sunday bingos and occasional trips to the Atlantic City casinos. Marie was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish and for years belonged to the Dunmore Women's Club.

Surviving are a son, William and wife, Helen, Dunmore; a son-in-law, Frank Brown, Roaring Brook Twp.; grandchildren, Alicia Insley and husband, Sean, Roaring Brook Twp.; Frank Brown and wife, Valarie, Palmetto, Fla.; Lauren Tur and husband, Joseph, Dunmore; and Anthony Giannetta, Dunmore; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Brown; and a sister, Thelma Mizenko.

The family would like to express its deepest gratitude to the third-floor staff at the Jewish Home for the loving care they extended to Marie. Because of their kindness and compassion, Marie was able to live her final years feeling comfortable and content.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Albert P. O'Donnell Funeral Home, 2025 Green Ridge St., Dunmore, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, 322 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
