Anthony "Bucky" S. Gardus, 93, of Whites Crossing died Tuesday at Carbondale Nursing Home. His wife of 67 years is the former Anna Kresock.

Born in Whites Crossing, son of the late Anthony and Anna Falong Gardus, he was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson. Anthony served in the Navy during World War II. Later, he worked as an electrical contractor. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Bucktail Hunting Lodge and the Slovak Society, and was a former member of the Fell Twp. Golden Age Seniors.
He enjoyed spending time in his garden and trips to the casinos. Anthony was a loving husband and father who will be missed by his entire family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Haley and the staff at the Carbondale Nursing Home for their care.
He is also survived by a son, A. Francis, at home; two brothers, Francis, Carbondale; and John, Whites Crossing; four sisters, Anna Sutor, Waymart; Sophie Hayzer, Garfield, N.J.; Monica Wanas, Carbondale; and Melanie Lee, Dickson City; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard, who died Friday; and Joseph; and three sisters, Pauline, Martha and Lucille.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment with military honors will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson. Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home Inc., Simpson.
