Michael Scarnato, 51, of Old Forge, died Friday evening in the emergency room of Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. His loving wife of 29 years is Patricia Craig Scarnato.

Born in Taylor and raised in Old Forge, son of Evelyn Smith Scarnato of Old Forge and the late Anthony Scarnato, he was a graduate of Old Forge High School. Michael was employed at the Lackawanna County Prison for many years. In the past, he and his wife resided in Moosic for nearly 17 years.
He was a member of the Old Forge Lions Club, enjoyed car shows and was recently in the process of restoring a '65 Mustang. He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Also surviving are two sons, Anthony Scarnato and Michael Scarnato II, both of Old Forge; a brother, David Scarnato and wife, Roberta, Duryea; a sister, Florence Petras and husband, Robert, Old Forge; his in-laws, Joseph and Andrea Craig, Moosic; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, Robert J. Gillette, funeral director, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge. A Catholic wake service will be held at 7 by the Rev. August A. Ricciardi. Interment will be private at Old Forge Cemetery.
