Kathryn C. Mellody, Scranton, died Monday evening at home. She was the widow of Paul Mellody, who died Jan. 21, 1991.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Kurosky Skiba, she attended Scranton Technical High School and was a homemaker. She attended Telespond on a weekly basis and was a member of Holy Rosary Church. She was a caring and loving mother who, up until she was 90, carried on a Sunday tradition of making dinner for her family.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Sweeney and husband, Edward, Scranton; a son and caregiver, Timothy, Scranton; a granddaughter, Bridget Sweeney, Scranton; a sister, Helen Geer and husband, Robert, Binghamton, N.Y.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul J. Mellody; seven brothers, Andrew, Michael, John, Joseph, Leo, Stanley and Edward; three sisters, Eleanor Police, Mary Moran and Victoria Blanco; and her sister-in-law and friend, Marion Skiba.
The family would like to thank Traditional Home Health and Hospice and also Dr. Lisa Robertson for their kindness and compassion in caring for their mother.
The funeral will be Thursday from the Edward Knight O'Donnell Funeral Home, 323 William St., Scranton, with Mass at 11 a.m. in Mary, Mother of God Parish at Holy Rosary Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.
Viewing, today, 5 to 8 p.m. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Traditional Home Health and Hospice, 113 W. Drinker St., Dunmore, PA 18512.
