Mary M. (Ruddy) Nawrocki, Throop, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday afternoon. Her husband and constant caregiver was Walter J. Nawrocki. They were married for 58 years.

Mary was born on Aug. 15, 1932, the daughter of Anthony and Margaret Heinzman Ruddy. She graduated from Scranton Technical High School. Before retirement, she was employed by Supermarket Service.

Mary loved to garden from sun up until sundown. Many babies felt her warm embrace in the quilts she so lovingly made. Her abilities as a seamstress were evident from wedding gowns to draperies to the simplest alterations. Before her illness, she loved to swim and exercise at the Dunmore YMCA.

Mary loved her family unconditionally, and supported her grandchildren at so many school and sporting events.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, JoAnn Galdieri and husband, Jim, Scranton; Thomas, Whitehall; and Walter Jr. and wife, Rose, Scott Twp.; five grandchildren, Jayme Galdieri and wife, Desiree; Rob Galdieri and Wally, Tim and April Nawrocki; a great-granddaughter, Gianna Rose Galdieri; and her sister, Kay Visocky.

Two brothers, Paul and Joseph Ruddy, preceded her in death.

Mary's family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Thomas Majernick and his staff for their kindness and to the "silent angels" from Traditional Home Health and Hospice, who made her last days comfortable.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, with Mass at 9:30 at Blessed Sacrament Parish, St. Anthony's Church, 215 Rebecca St., Throop. Burial, St. Anthony's Cemetery, Dickson City.
