William J. Hopkins Jr., 84, of Honesdale, died on Monday at Gino J. Merli Veterans Center in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Eleanor Louise Eisenhauer, on April 2. The couple married on Oct. 28, 1950, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Waldwick, N.J.

Born on Jan. 21, 1930, in Waldwick, son of the late William J. and Anna Dyer Hopkins, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He began his construction career with his father at Hopkins and Son in New Jersey. Later he continued doing construction in the Lake Ariel and Honesdale areas, and became a well-known craftsman. He later retired from C & D Construction.
Bill enjoyed listening to music and dancing. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Honesdale and VFW Post 531 in Honesdale.
Surviving are his sons, William and wife, Lori, Hawley; Jeffry and wife, Mary Ann, Macungie; Paul and companion, Beth, Honesdale; and Michael and wife, Karen, Lake Ariel; daughters, Jo Ann Kent and companion, James Kane, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.; and Janet Fullwood and husband, John, Lake Ariel; a brother, John Hopkins and wife, Elaine, Goshen, N.Y.; a sister, Margaret McGrath and husband, Roger, Hendersonville, N.C.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Edward and Kenneth; and his grandson, Gary Hopkins.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Church, Honesdale. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may visit Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hessling Funeral Home Inc., 428 Main St., Honesdale.
