Charles L. Slaughter, 67, of Scranton, and formerly of Grenloch, N.J., died Thursday evening in Commonwealth Hospice in Scranton following an illness. His wife is the former Karen (Miller) Pfefferkorn.

Born June 24, 1947, in Woodbury, N.J., he was the son of the late Samuel and Edith (Bachelor) Slaughter. Before retirement, he was employed in the trucking industry for 40 years and was a Teamsters union member.
Also surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Bowser and husband, James; and Diann Dare and husband, Dallas, all of New Jersey; 12 grandchildren; and two step-sisters, Edith and Helen.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Slaughter.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA, 746 Jefferson Ave., Scranton, PA 18510.
