Valerie Ann Brown, 65, of Olyphant, died Friday at home. Her husband of 47 years is Earl Brown.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Nicholas and Constance Kunda Santagato, she resided in Olyphant for the past 14 years. She attended Dickson City public schools and the Independent Bible Church of Duryea.

In life, Valerie had tremendous faith. She instilled in her family the value of faith and family. She loved taking long rides in the country with her best friend, her husband. She enjoyed watching all classic movies and just spending time with her family. She was a caregiver for many years for her special needs sister, Theresa. She will be missed but always remembered for her kind heart and great love for her family. She is a special angel gone to be with God in his beautiful garden. We will carry her love with us always.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Earl Jr. and Richard, at home; two daughters, Melissa Naughton and husband, Tom, Eastford, Conn.; and Heather Brown, at home; two brothers, Ferdinand, Peckville; and Nicholas and wife, Carol, Olyphant; three sisters, Irene Conte, Peckville; Mary Chorba and husband, Steve, Olyphant; and Theresa Santagato, Olyphant; three grandsons, John and Adam Naughton and James Talerico; many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from the Michael Wargo Jr. Funeral Home, 812 E. Scott St., Olyphant, with services by Pastor Al Cremard. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.

Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
