Pearl Brzostek, 88, formerly of Fleetville, died July 2 at Renaissance Care Center in Millsboro, Del., of natural causes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, in 2005.

Born in Dickson City on July 14, 1925, daughter of the late John and Rose Rutkowski, Pearl was a graduate of Dickson City High School. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Dickson City and St. Patrick's of Nicholson. An avid seamstress, Pearl enjoyed making clothing for family and friends. Growing beautiful flowers was also another hobby of Pearl's. Pearl enjoyed traveling with her late husband to Hawaii, summers at the Willows Campground in Henderson Harbor off Lake Ontario and visiting friends and family.
She will be dearly missed. Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the staffs of both Allied Terrace in Scranton and Renaissance Long Term Care Center for their exceptional care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that you donate to
Surviving are a son, Edward Brzostek and wife, Rita, Ocean View, Del.; a granddaughter, Jennifer Tenor and husband, Nathan; a great-granddaughter, Ellie, Alexandria, Va.; a grandson, Edward Robert Brzostek and wife, Justina; and great-granddaughter, Vivienne, Bloomington, Ind.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda, in 2004; and brothers, John and Edward Rutkowski.
The funeral will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Mary's Visitation Church, Dickson City. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Scott Twp.
