Marian was born in Dunmore, daughter of the late John and Helen Kolesar Fitt. She graduated from Dunmore High School in 1961. It was there she met the love of her life, Charlie (Charles) Valenza, and married him in January 1963. She last resided with Charlie in Peckville, Pa., for the past 12 years; they previously lived in Dunmore, Pa. Marian was an amazing mother to six children, Charlene Corker, Michele Salmon (husband, Michael), Charles Jr., Robert (wife, Jennifer), Christopher (wife, Missie) and Sherry. Marian has several grandchildren, Jennifer Moczulski (Woss) and her husband, Dave; John Corker Jr., Robert Roe, C.J. Valenza, Brandon Valenza, Alyssa Valenza, Ethan and Emily Salmon.
Marian was predeceased by her infant son, Charles Jr.; and her brother, Jay Fitt.
Marian worked at J.C. Penney for more than 35 years. She loved working in retail and spending time with customers. She retired from J.C. Penney in 2010.
Marian was a caring, nurturing and inspirational person. She was a devout Catholic who never missed an annual Novena at St. Ann's Monastery. She also loved to bake, cook, sew, read and spend time with her grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to either the Lehigh Valley Women's Cancer Center in Allentown, Pa. (1575 Pond Road) or to St. Ann's Monastery and Shrine Basilica in Scranton, Pa. She was devoted to both organizations in times of good health and in times of much needed support. They were both very dear to her heart.
The funeral will be Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in the Peckville Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 340 Hickory St., (corner of Hickory and Union streets) at 11 a.m. Those planning on attending the service are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be private.
Friends may call Tuesday, July 22, from 5-8 p.m. at the Morell-LaBelle Funeral Home at 301 Chestnut St., Dunmore. Online condolences: www.dunmorefunerals.com.
