Abigail Lynn Zappel, 34, of Throop, died Monday morning at Hackensack University Hospital, N.J. She and her husband, Michael J. Zappel, would have celebrated 10 years of marriage on Thursday.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of Michael and Nancy Yannarell Zeleniak. She was a graduate of Wallenpaupack High School and Penn State University, where she earned a degree in kinesiology, and finished graduate school at Seton Hall. She was a physician's assistant.

She was a loving wife, mother and daughter, and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Also surviving are a daughter, Katelyn; and son, Leo, both at home; a father-in-law and mother-in-law, Richard and Jeanne Zappel; and brother-in-law, Philip Zappel; as well as extended family and friends.

The funeral will be Thursday from the Carlucci-Golden-DeSantis Funeral Home Inc., 318 E. Drinker St., Dunmore, with Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Chestnut Street, Dunmore. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
