John Paul "Jack" Jones, 85, of Montdale and formerly of West Scranton, died Wednesday at Park Lane at Bellingham Rehab Center in West Chester. His wife of 51 years was the former Norma Pompey, who died July 11, 2001.

Born in Scranton, son of the late John and Catherine Hayes Jones, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School and an Army veteran, assigned to the Military Police. He was employed at Pompey Coal Company, and retired from the Scott Twp. Police Force as chief of police.
He is survived by two sons, John Paul Jones III and wife, Denise, Allentown; and Charles Jones, Richmond, Ind., and Debra Jones, Downingtown; a brother, William Jones, Jessup; grandchildren, Marcelle Karosen, Jacqueline Hoxie, Kristin McCune and Jason Jones; and great-grandchildren, Nolan and Elise Karosen and Tessa McCune.
He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
The funeral will be Saturday with Mass at 10 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church, Montdale. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.
Friends and family will be received from 9 until time of Mass at the church.
Arrangements are by Margotta Funeral Homes of Jessup and Peckville.
