Ellen M. Pehanich, 57, of Taylor, formerly of Scranton, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday. Her ex-husband, boyfriend and love of her life is Joseph Pehanich Jr.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Michael and Eleanor Doud Badyrka, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and employed by Trique Inc. She loved her people, and would remind them that she loved them deeply.

She was very proud of her daughters and granddaughters. Ellen enjoyed traveling to casinos and her godchildren's football games.

Also surviving are two daughters, Dawn Nowakowski and husband, Tommy, Scranton; and Colleen Pehanich and companion, John Price, Scranton; two granddaughters, Natalie and Madison Nowakowski; a stepdaughter, Jade; a brother, Peter Badyrka and wife, Marlene; a sister, Cathy Kreidler and husband, James; godsons, Matthew and Corey Talerico; her cat, Sassy; nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, David Badyrka; a sister-in-law, Mary Badyrka; her in-laws, Beverly and Joseph Pehanich Sr.; a brother-in-law, James Pehanich; and a niece, Michelle Coleman.

The funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. in the McGoff-Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1401 Capouse Ave., Scranton, PA 18509. Interment, Dunmore Cemetery.

Friends may call Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. She will be laid out in her pajamas, per her request.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter.
