Eleanor Story O'Brien, 88, of Dalton, died Friday afternoon at Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. She was the wife of Audley "Chip" O'Brien, who died in 1995.

Born in Tunkhannock, daughter of the late Theodore and Mable Miner Story, she was a medical assistant for Clarks Green Medical Associates before retirement. She was a member of Clarks Summit United Methodist Church and its Ruth Circle.
Eleanor "Ellie" was a generous, kind and loving mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader who enjoyed crafting. She loved Christmas, going to the beach, shopping and having lunch with her friends.
Surviving are two daughters, Kay "Kitzie" O'Brien, Dalton; and Jill Hobbes and husband, Bob, Tunkhannock; a granddaughter, Andrea Hobbes, Tunkhannock; and caregiver, Sharon Cummings, Nicholson.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, David Story.
A graveside service will be held privately in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock, with the Rev. Amy Raser, pastor of Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Hwy., Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
