Nan Fay Hodovanec, 84, a resident of the Lackawanna Health Care Center, and formerly of Dickson City, died peacefully Monday evening, August 4, 2014, at Geisinger Community Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late George Hodovanec.

Born and raised in Dickson City, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Stieler Stead Mack and the late John Stead. She was a graduate of Dickson City High School and with her husband owned and operated Vance Engineering.

She loved to spend time with family, baking and working in her garden. Nan received loving care while at Lackawanna Health Care. Her family would like to extend sincere thanks to all staff members. She was a friend to all.

She is survived by a daughter, Michele Davitt and husband, Stephen, Dickson City; eight grandchildren, Rebecca James and husband, Jonathan, Throop; Brian Davitt and fiancée, Charlene Giarratano, Dickson City; Robin Youngblood and husband, Corey, Throop; Adam Davitt and wife, Chris, Dickson City; Aaron Savitsky, Dickson City; Jessica Sabato and husband, Mark, Olyphant; Carey Krott and husband, Daniel, Scott Twp.; Carissima Hodovanec, Blakely; thirteen great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Marilyn Mack, Dickson City; Marlene Slota and husband, Robert, Dunmore; and Patricia Naugin and husband, Ed, Throop; daughter-in-law, Theresa Hodovanec, Peckville; former daughters-in-law, Carissima Bruno, Blakely; and Cheryl Hodovanec, Throop; Rebecca Mursch, Carbondale; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Savitsky; three sons, Gary and Vance Hodovanec, and infant Bruce Hodovanec; a great-granddaughter, Mariahn Davitt.

The funeral will be Friday at 9 a.m. from the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City. Interment with committal services will follow at, St. Tikhon's Cemetery, S. Canaan.
