Ethel Arlene Sheppard, 92, of Clarks Summit, died Wednesday at Geisinger Mountain View Care Center, Scranton. She was the widow of Thomas J. Sheppard, who died in 1983.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas and Ethel Dougherty Davis, she was a member of United Baptist Church, Scranton, and a past deaconess of the First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and for years she worked in the catalog department of Sears Roebuck. Ethel was a gracious lady who exemplified class. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose kindness will be greatly missed. She loved spending time with her family and working in her flower garden.
Surviving are her three children, sons, Thomas and wife, Peg; Robert and wife, Mona; and daughter, Charlotte and husband, Thomas Ruby; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Davis.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Mountain view Care Center for their caring service.
A funeral service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will follow in Shady Lane Cemetery.
