John S. Ferenchak, 71, Jermyn, died Thursday in Commonwealth Hospice of NEPA.

Born in Carbondale, son of the late John and Julia Tellep Ferenchak, he graduated from Lakeland High School and the Johnson School of Technology.
He was a carpenter, and was employed by the carpenters union before retirement. He was also a member of St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Mayfield.
He had an outgoing personality, making friends easily. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family wants to thank the special care unit of the Regional Hospital of Scranton, especially the respiratory staff.
He is survived by a sister, Janet Frank and her husband, Albert, Greenfield Twp.; a dear beloved aunt, Ann Ferenchak, Jermyn; and his fiancée, Marie Cookson, Forest City.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. John's Russian Orthodox Cathedral, Mayfield, by the Very Rev. Mitred Archpriest John Sorochka.
Interment, St. John's Orthodox Cemetery, Mayfield.
Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn.
Parastas will be at 7:30. Transfer to the church will be at 9.
