Christine Parente, 84, a South Scranton resident, died Friday while at Mountain View Care Center, joining her beloved guardian angels. She was the wife of the late Rocco Parente.

Born in Scranton, Christine was the daughter of the deceased Benedetto and Josephine Aldolino Crisafulli. She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Parish, and was a graduate of Cabrini School and West Scranton High School. Christine worked as a title searcher for several years, during which time she was employed by various local attorneys. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters, Keyser Valley Community Center and the South Side Senior Center.

Christine loved children, and was a member of Mother's Helpers. She delighted in entertaining foster children during the Christmas holidays. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who cherished her children and grandchildren. Christine will be missed by all her family, and will also be missed by her neighbors, especially Maria, Tony and young Michael Francis.

Surviving are two children, Joseph Parente and wife, Alice, Sacramento, Calif.; and Carolyn Parente Conetta and husband, Douglas, Ridgewood, N.J.; four grandchildren, Christopher Conetta and wife, Catherine; Aimee Conetta Bereczky and husband, Attila; Matthew Conetta and Gianina Parente Quiming and husband, Markis; two sisters, Carmella Orlevitch, Throop; and Anna Kolinovsky and husband, Clem, Scranton; and several nieces and nephews.

Christine was also preceded in death by a sister, Antoinette Mansueti; two brothers, Joseph and Patsy Crisafulli; and an infant sister, Christina Crisafulli.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 9:30 a.m. from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, St. Paul of the Cross Parish, 1217 Prospect Ave., to be concelebrated by the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor, and Monsignor David L. Tressler. Interment will be at Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday, Aug. 15, from 3 to 7 p.m.
