Helen E. Turko of Scranton died peacefully in her sleep Tuesday evening at home. She was the wife of Frank Turko. The couple had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past May.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica Terraser Penyak, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Olyphant. Before its closing, she was employed as a sales clerk at the Globe Store in Scranton.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Patricia Supensky and companion, Andy Caparelli, Scranton; and Helen Marie Zimmerman and husband, Donald, Bethlehem; two granddaughters, Carrie and Danielle Zimmerman, both of Bethlehem; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one sister, Marion Penyak; one brother, Joseph Penyak; one nephew, Robert Incociatti; and one niece, Terry Penyak.
The funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the John J. Turko & Sons Funeral Home, 404 Susquehanna Ave., Olyphant, with Divine Liturgy at 10 in SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, River Street, Olyphant, to be celebrated by the Rev. Nestor Iwasiw, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Peckville.
Friends may call Saturday from 3 until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. A Parastas service will be Sunday evening at 6.
