Patricia Holland Amato, R.N., 62, of Old Forge, died Friday evening, Aug. 8, at home.

Born in Taylor on April 13, 1952, daughter of the late Joseph and Nell Samsock Holland, Patricia was a graduate of Riverside High School. A graduate of the Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing, she also received both her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Misericordia University. She earned a certification in psychiatric and mental health nursing from the American Nurses Association. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church in Taylor before its closing.
An adoring grandmother to her three grandchildren, Patty will be forever missed by all of her loved ones.
She is survived by her daughters, Cate Makarczyk and husband, Brent, Nanticoke; and Brandi Amato-Ziegler and husband, William, Columbia, N.C.; her siblings, Rosemary Cencetti, Old Forge; Joseph Holland and wife, Donna, Scranton; attorney John (Cosmo) Holland, Mechanicsburg; James Holland and wife, Beverly, Moosic; and Michael Holland and wife, Susan, Old Forge; three grandchildren, Amara "Sunshine" and Brenden "Buddy" Makarczyk and Sophia Madison Ziegler; and many nieces and (nephews.
Blessing services to be celebrated by Rev. Francis L. Pauselli, Divine Mercy pastor, are scheduled for Aug. 21 at 10 a.m. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge. Interment will follow at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.
Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Aug. 20 from 5 to 8 p.m.
