Harriet M. Edwards, 84, of Visalia, Calif., died Friday in Tulare, Calif., after battling Alzheimer's. She was the wife of Ronald Edwards. The couple married Nov. 24, 1956, in St. James Episcopal Church.

Born in Archbald and raised in Jermyn, she graduated from Jermyn High School and worked as head clerk in Acme Supermarket. Harriet's three children were born in Pennsylvania. The family moved to Novato, Calif., in July 1969. In 1974, Harriet opened a ceramic studio, where she taught and sold ceramics for nine years. She and her husband then moved to Visalia in 1983, where they retired in 2002.
Also surviving are daughters, Denise and husband, Patrick Ellwood, Orinda, Calif.; Barbara Earl, Visalia; and Beth-Ellen Edwards-Tarr and husband, Michael, Everett, Wash.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Battenberg Funeral Home, 363 Washington Ave., Jermyn, by the Rev. Peter Pearson, pastor, St. James-St. George Episcopal Church, Jermyn. Interment, Jermyn Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m.
