Samuel E. Breidenstein, 46, a longtime resident of Honesdale and Moosic, died Monday at Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. His wife is the former Kim Belch.

Born in Honesdale, son of the late Richard Irving and Darlene Cook Breidenstein, he had been employed by Maui Corp for 16 years before his illness..

He was a loving husband and a beloved father and grandfather; he devoted his life to his loving wife, Kim. He was a kind, giving and strong man, always ready to offer a helping hand. Even in death he was generous by being an organ donor. He had a heart of gold; although he was a quiet man, his quick wit put a smile on your face. He touched the hearts of many and will be remembered and missed every day.

Also surviving are three children, Bryan Breidenstein, Honesdale; Kaitlyn Breidenstein, Lake Ariel; and Angel Andes, Fort Drum, N.Y.; granddaughter, Natalie Andes, Fort Drum, N.Y.; a brother, Richard Breidenstein, Carbondale; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, by the Rev. Arthur W. Davis, pastor of Asbury United Methodist Church.

Friends may call Thursday from 4:30 until time of service.
