Monica M. Kochis Runco, 77, of Throop, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, Aug. 17, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Chic" Runco, in 2012.
Born in Throop, daughter of the late George and Helen Kochis, Mona was a graduate of Throop High School, and was employed at Harper-Collins Publishers before retirement. Mona was a devout Catholic and an active parishioner of the Blessed Sacrament Parish in Throop.
Mona loved to cook and bake. She was compassionate and sympathetic and always remembered everyone's birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions. Her lists were long, but she always sent cards, made time to make a phone call or sent food to family or friends who were ill, and would never forget anyone in her prayers.
Her grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Surviving are daughters, Justine Bechaver and husband, David, Covington Twp.; and Helene Runco, Throop; her grandchildren, Ashley Bechaver, Throop; and Justin and Paula Bechaver, Covington Twp.; her sister, Mary Ann Muto and husband, Albert, Throop; a brother-in-law, Sam Runco; sister-in-law, Linda Kochis; several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Kochis.
Funeral services for Mona are Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at 9 a.m. from the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, with Mass at 9:30 at Blessed Sacrament Parish at St. Anthony's Church, 215 Rebecca St., Throop. The morning of the funeral, friends are asked to go directly to St. Anthony's Church. Burial, St. John's Cemetery, Throop.
A viewing is scheduled for Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
