Vincent E. Cherundolo, 84, of Old Forge, died Wednesday morning at home. His wife of 47 years, the former Theresa Yuhas, died on Jan. 7, 2000.

Born in Old Forge, son of the late John and Josephine Mondelli Cherundolo, he was a 1947 graduate of Old Forge High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army to honorably serve his nation. Prior to his retirement, Vince was employed as a practical nurse for the V.A. Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, for nearly 30 years. He was a social member of both the Old Forge American Legion and the Duryea VFW and was a parishioner of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Old Forge.

A very thoughtful man who would place his family above all else, Vince was a kind and caring individual. He was a great New York Yankees and Pittsburgh Steelers fan and also enjoyed shooting pool and hunting. In his younger years he worked as a barber and operated his father's pool hall on Alicia Street in Old Forge.

Surviving are two sons, Vincent Cherundolo Jr.; and Ed Cherundolo and wife, Cindy, all of Old Forge; three grandchildren, Ed Cherundolo Jr., Tricia Cherundolo and Ann Marie Cherundolo Love; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Anne Matakevitch, of Toms River, N.J.; and nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Cherundolo.

The funeral with military honors will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Victor M. Ferri Funeral Home, Robert J. Gillette, funeral director, 522 Fallon St., Old Forge, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Lawrence O'Toole Church at Prince of Peace Parish, 620 South Main St., Old Forge, to be celebrated by the Rev.
