Frances M. Petro, 74, a lifelong resident of Olyphant, died late Sunday in Mercy Hospital. Her husband, William, died in 1981.

Born in Olyphant, daughter of the late Gaetano and Lowella DiPietro, she was educated in Olyphant schools and was a homemaker.

She was loved by her family very much and will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia A. Petro, Scranton; two sons, William Joseph Petro, Jessup, and Mark Petro, Scranton; five grandchildren; a great-grandson; a brother, Edward DiPietro, Jessup; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Sheerer; and two sisters, Margaret Rushworth and Rose Genovese.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, 445 Sanderson St., Throop, with a blessing service by the Rev. Thomas M. Muldowney, pastor of the Catholic Community of Olyphant. Interment, St. Cyril's Cemetery, Peckville.
