Ruth McHale, 81, of Duryea, died Sunday morning at home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry McHale, on Aug. 22, 2003.

Born in Milwaukee on Sept. 27, 1928, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Corselius Newman, Ruth was a graduate of Newton-Ransom High School, class of 1947. Before retiring, she was an aide for the former Maloney Home of Scranton. Of the Methodist faith, she was a member of the Moosic United Methodist Church. A pet lover, she adored her dog, Lucky. An extremely loving mother, grandmother, relative and friend, she will surely be missed.
She is survived by three children, a son, Thomas McHale and wife, Mary Ann McHale, Duryea; and two daughters, Donna Michalec and husband, Al Sr., Duryea; and Mary Ann Seeley and husband, Ben, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Kevin McHale, Al Michalec Jr., and Kimberly Carmadella; her great-grandson, Devin Michalec; and friend and companion, Louise Catalogna.
She also was preceded in death by a sister, Margery LaCoe.
Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, by the Rev. Richard Card, pastor of the Evans Falls United Methodist Church. Interment, Newton Cemetery.
