Charles F. Herold Jr., 84, a lifelong resident of Waymart, died Thursday at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart.

Born in Bloomfield, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles F. Sr. and Gussie Hunt Herold. He graduated from Waymart High School in 1945 and was a World War II Army veteran.

Prior to his disability, he was a custodian at the Waymart Post Office and Waymart High School, and was a charter and 66-year member of Waymart American Legion Post 889.

A loving and extremely knowledgeable person, he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by cousins, including Sharon Halsey and husband, Rahlyn, Corfu, N.Y.; and close friends and neighbors Michael and Valerie Packer, Waymart.

The funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. An American Legion service will be conducted at 7.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 889, P.O. Box 395, Waymart,PA 18472.
