Bernadine V. Rasavage, 82, of Newfoundland, died Thursday in Mercy Hospital. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Edward J. Rasavage.

Born in Alden, Luzerne County, daughter of the late Stanley and Blanche Katchka Madurski, she had resided in the Newfoundland area since 1985 and previously in Manville, N.J.
Bernadine was a very active member of the Church of St. Anthony of Padua. A devoted wife and mother, she enjoyed her family, making pierogies, listening to polkas and was always a dependable babysitter and Grammy.
She is also survived by a daughter, Susan and husband, Greg Golombos, Hillsborough, N.J.; a son, Wayne E. and wife, Lisa Rasavage, Morrisville; five grandchildren, Alison, Dr. David, M.D.; and Kyle Golombos and Julie and Dylan Rasavage; two sisters, Sylvia Winters, Linden, N.J.; and Theresa Davies, Clinton, N.J.; and two brothers, Stanley Madurski, Newfoundland; and Sylvester Madurski, Greentown. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Rasavage.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, Main Street, Newfoundland. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, South Sterling. Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Arthur J. Frey Funeral Home, 201 Rt. 191, Village of LaAanna, South Sterling.
