Dorothy Dzwonczyk, 89, of Peckville, died Friday at the Golden Living Center. She was the wife of John Dzwonczyk, who died Oct. 27, 1996.

She was born in Peckville, daughter of the late Joseph and Susan Hricko Zalutko. She was an active member of St. John's Russian Orthodox Church in Mayfield and All Saints Russian Orthodox Church in Olyphant. She was a graduate of Blakely High School and attended Lackawanna Business School. She was an active member of the Lakeland School District PTA and was a troop leader in the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America at St. John's Russian Orthodox Church.

Before retiriement, she worked for the Foote Insurance Agency in Archbald.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Philip John Dzwonczyk and wife, Andrea, Norwich, N.Y.; a daughter, Paula Dorothy Eisengrein and husband, Jaysen, Centreville, Md; two sisters, Marie Fedrick, Scranton; and Helen Beckage, Fairfield, Conn.; three grandchildren, Larisa and Philip Joseph Dzwonczyk and John David Eisengrein; nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark; and two sisters, Mildred Olp and Ruth Scalsky.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. in All Saints Russian Orthodox Church, with services by the Rev. David Cowan. Interment, parish cemetery, Peckville. Friends may call Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert E. Decker Funeral Home, 702 River St., Peckville. Parastas will be at 7.

Friends and family should go directly to the church the day of the funeral.

Memorial contributions may go to All Saints Russian Orthodox Church.
