Dorothy M. Puksta, 90, of South Scranton, died Tuesday evening at Hospice Community Care. Her husband was the late Edwin Puksta.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late August and Mary Thiel Strasburger, Dorothy was a graduate of St. Mary's High School. She was a member of the Keystone Chapter of American Ex-Prisoners of War and a lifelong member of St. Mary's Assumption Church, South Scranton, now St. John Neumann Parish.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking and gardening. She also loved spending her summers at Lake Henry in Maplewood.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Puksta and wife, Theresa, Conshohocken; and Ronald Puksta and wife, Nancy, Scranton; a daughter, Karen Machemer and husband, Dennis, Seven Stars; eight grandchildren, Robert Puksta II, Joseph Puksta, Daniel Puksta, Andrea Puksta, Christopher Puksta, Kera Evans, Tara Glynn and Ryan Puksta; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Richard Strasburger.
The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the Nicholas Chomko Funeral Home, 1132 Prospect Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in Nativity of Our Lord Church, Scranton. Interment, Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
Friends may call Friday from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
