Albin S. "Beano" Janiszewski Sr., 72, died Monday evening in the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center, Scranton, surrounded by his family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. Albin was the husband and best friend of the former Patricia Bullaro. The couple was married 52 years.

Born March 3, 1939, in Scranton, he was the loving and caring son of the late Joseph and Matilda Sienkiewicz Janiszewski. He was a 1957 graduate of Scranton Technical High School and part of the "Scranton 57th" Social Club.

Albin was a member of the St. Paul of the Cross Parish and its Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church. He worked as a mechanic at Chamberlain and then as a self-employed truck driver. He was a member of the Tauras, Waldorf and Polish clubs of Scranton, where he cherished the many friends that he made.

Al enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a hard worker who valued friendships. He valued most of all, his family and was a loving, proud Father and Grandfather.

He cherished the special relationships that he had with this pride and joy, his daughter, Roseann. He learned winemaking skills from his friend, Pete Dicky and loved to make wine with his sons, go shopping with his grandsons and spend time with his two beautiful granddaughters. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races and spending time with family and friends telling stories. "AL the Engineer" as he was known by many, spent countless hours helping his sons on various projects…he always had the answers. His best buddy was Buster, his dog and all the many pets that he gave homes to over the years.

The Janiszewski family would like to thank the staff of the CMC Hospital and the VNA Hospice for the wonderful care and compassion that they showed. The many close friends and relatives that have helped through this hard time will for ever hold a special place in their hearts. They would also like to extend a special thanks to his closest friends, Matt Sleboda and Jeff Lescinsky.

Also surviving are his five children and their families: "Jr." and his wife, Amy; "Chuck" and his wife, Donna and son, CJ; Roseann Hansen and husband, Eric and children, Robert and Jena; Paul and his wife, Julie and children, Paul and Faith; and Kenny and his wife, Kari and children, Zane and Luke. He is also survived by a recently found cousin, with whom he became very close, Joan Ryan and her companion, Ernie.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Richard.

The funeral will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Brian Arthur Strauch Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 3 First St., Spring Brook Twp., PA 18444, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church, 1221 Prospect Ave., Scranton, PA 18505, to be celebrated by the Rev. Scott Sterowski, pastor. Interment to follow in St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
