Joan Catherine Noto, a resident of West Scranton and formerly of Delray Beach, Fla., died Sunday evening at home. Her beloved husband of 55 years, Ralph Noto, died March 27, 2010.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Thomas Sr. and Elenor Knight Farrell, Joan was a graduate of West Scranton High School. Upon graduation, she pursued a career as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone, Erie- Lackawanna Railroad and the U.S. Hoffman Plant (now Chamberlain).
She left her career to pursue her greatest passion, which was to be a wonderful and loving mother and wife. She always took great pride in being involved with her family. Her happiest times were those spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by friends and family, both in Scranton and Delray Beach. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.
She is survived by two sons, Michael Ralph Noto and wife, Lisa, Waverly; and Thomas Ralph Noto, New York, N.Y.; two grandsons, Michael and Andrew Noto, Waverly; her devoted and loving sister, Helen Lynott; and her sister-in-law, Theresa Farrell, both of Scranton.
A brother, Thomas Farrell Jr., also preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. from the Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel, Oram Street, Scranton. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
