Mark D. Smith, 51, of North Scranton, died Tuesday at home after an illness.

Born in Scranton, son of William K. and Rose Bombar Smith, Lake Ariel, he was a graduate of York County Vo-Tech class of 1979. He was an Air Force veteran of six years based out of Andrews AFB, Md., and was employed in the HVAC maintenance departments of Allied Services and Geisinger/Community Medical Center. He attended Peckville Assembly of God Church and was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, NRA and the Cascade Valley School Reunion Association.

He is also survived by a daughter, Casey Smith, Scranton; a sister, Lisa Bond, Hackettstown, N.J.; three brothers, William Smith and wife, Ann, Lake Ariel; James Smith and wife, Betsy, Covington Twp.; and David Smith, Felton, Pa.; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mark's wishes were to be cremated and cremation took place in Sunlight Crematory, Hanover Twp. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, 2 to 5 p.m., at the Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, 254-268 Railroad Ave., West Scranton, with services at 5 by Pastor Terry Drost, Peckville Assembly of God Church. Interment of cremains will be in Cascade Valley Cemetery, Windsor, N.Y.
