Suzanne Gerrity, L.P.N., 62, of Taylor, died Saturday at Regional Hospital of Scranton's Hospice Unit. Her late husband was Peter Wood.

Born in Scranton on June 25, 1950, daughter of the late William P. Sr. and Marion Schuster Gerrity, Suzanne graduated from the former St. Patrick's High School in West Scranton before earning her degree as a licensed practical nurse. Before her illness, she worked as a nurse for Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor. On Saturday, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer, Suzanne was called to the Lord.
She is survived by her brother, Kevin, Longmont, Colo.; niece, Rhonda Hafler, Old Forge; sister-in-law, Liz Jones, Taylor; nephews, Jesse, Joel and Bobby Hafler; nieces, Abby, and the light of her life, Elizabeth Hafler; and her dog, Reilly, which she adored.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Billy Gerrity.
Her family would like to give a special thank you to both Dr. Lisa Thomas and Dr. Kenneth Sebastianelli and their staffs as well as the Rev. Joseph Jones, C.P. and Brother Daniel Turner of St. Ann's Basilica for all the care and compassion they had given to Suzanne.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Basilica, St. Ann's Street, West Scranton, to be celebrated by the Rev. Francis Landy, C.P., pastor. Private interment will follow in Old Forge Cemetery. Per Suzanne's wishes, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Ann's Parish Food Pantry, 1250 St. Ann's St., Scranton, PA 18504.
