Jean M. Giro, Scranton, died Wednesday at St. Mary's Villa, Elmhurst. She was the widow of Joseph Giro, who died Aug. 22, 1987.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Zigmond and Mary Gladys Obidinski, she was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Church, educated in Scranton public schools, a graduate of Scranton Central High School and Lackawanna Junior College. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Lackawanna. Jean was a member of the Catholic Charismatic and the Sweet Adeline Society. She showed great faith in God, and would pray for anyone in need.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother and aunt who will be deeply missed.
The family would like to thank St. Mary's Villa and Celtic Hospice for the kindness and compassionate care given to Jean and her family.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Giro and longtime companion, Martin Pupalitis, both of Scranton; Denise Rogers and husband, Brian, Scranton; two grandsons, Dylan Joseph Rogers, Scranton; and Jacob Robert Rogers, Scranton; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Obidinski, Scranton; nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robert Obidinski.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 1240 St. Ann's St., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in SS. Peter & Paul Church, West Locust Street, to be celebrated by the Rev. Sam Ferretti, pastor. Interment, parish cemetery, Taylor.
