Martin V. Hopkins Jr., Olyphant and Peckville, died Tuesday at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. He was the husband of the former Marian Quinn, who died Feb. 19, 1992.

Born in Peckville, he was the son of the late Martin V. Sr. and Dorothy Wescott Hopkins. Marty was a graduate of Valley View High School, class of 1972, and also of Penn State University, Worthington Scranton campus.

He was a social member of the Blakely and Olyphant American Legions and the VFW in Peckville. He was a former member of Blakely Hose Company and Blakely Ambulance. Prior to his illness, he worked at Regency Bank, Wilkes-Barre and Allentown, and he owned and operated a limousine service in the Midvalley area.

Marty enjoyed spending time with family and friends at their cottage at Wrighter's Lake.

Surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Schmidt and husband, Randy, Jessup, and Danielle Saucedo and husband, Manuel, Burbank, Ill.; a sister, Debra Major and husband, Ted, Jessup; a grandson, Noah Schmidt; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and his friend and companion, Helen Remick, Olyphant.

He also was preceded in death by his companion, Christine Aponick.

Services and internment will be held at the convenience of his family.
