Mary Dougher Davies, 90, of Carbondale, died Saturday in Geisinger Community Medical Center VNA Hospice after complications from a stroke and fall. Her husband, Robert Davies, died in 2002.

She was the oldest of three daughters of the late Joseph and Grace O'Malley Dougher. She attended the Washington School and was a 1940 graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, both of Carbondale. Upon graduation, she worked in New York as a legal secretary and retired as an administrative manager at Tobyhanna Army Depot. Before their retirement to Carbondale, Mary and Bob lived in Nutley, N.J. She belonged to St. Rose of Lima Parish, Carbondale, and St. Mary's Parish, Nutley. She was a longtime member of the Carbondale Business and Professional Women's Club and St. Joseph's and Marian Hospital Auxiliary, Carbondale.

Mary was a creative spark among her family and friends, happily sharing her passion for art, crafts and design. Her jeweled eggs are held as family treasures.

She is survived by a niece, Maryann Spellman Young and husband, Gordon, Union Dale; stepchildren, Mary Visco, Joanne Horvath, Robert, Timothy and Michael Davies and their spouses, children and grandchildren; cousins; and devoted companions, Michaela Bailey and Julie Rzucidlo.

She was also preceded in death by sisters, Anne "Nan" Dougher and Eleanor Spellman; and infant brother, John.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Interment will be private.

Friends may call Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30.
