Peter P. Demmer, 89, of Kingsley, died Monday at Meadow View Senior Living Center after a brief illness. His wife of 59 years, Charlotte Bishop Demmer, survives.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late Peter Sr. and Emma Chmelko Demmer, Peter was a hard worker. He ran a dairy farm when his family was young, and was a factory worker at Donald Deans and Sons. He also liked working with wood, cutting firewood with his sons, and making lawn chairs for the family. He loved his Lord, his family and his little dog, Didi. Pete had a wonderful sense of humor.

Also surviving are his two daughters and sons-in-law, LuAnn and Levi Ransom, Nicholson; and Donna and Edwin Giles, Prompton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard and Patricia Demmer, Johnson City, N.Y.; and Robert Demmer, Kingsley; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Kristen Ransom, Tim and Carol Ransom, Aaron and Jesika, Brittany and Valerie Demmer; seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Andrew, Kolten, Rebeka, Levi and Kaylee; two sisters, Louise Lewis, Hallstead; and Martha "Marty" Demmer, Montrose; many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Ransom; two sisters, Olga McAuliffe and Emma Brewer; five brothers, John, Nick, Albert, William and David, and infant brother, James.

A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, with Levi Ransom officiating. Donations may be made to the True Friends Animal Welfare Center, 16332 SR 706, Montrose, PA 18801.
