Phillip Contorno of Waymart died Sunday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, after being stricken ill. His wife of 21 years is the former Linda Smith.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., son of the late Phillip and Angela Santoro Contorno, he had worked for 30 years in trucking and 13 years at General Dynamics. He was a veteran of the Army.

Also surviving are a daughter, Valerie Ann Contorno and husband, Jack Kleinbauer, Mayfield; sons, Phillip and wife, Deborah, Hamond, La.; Steven and wife, Linda, Castle Rock, Colo.; and Thomas and wife, Melissa, Mayfield; a stepson, Ryan Mahler, North Carolina; sisters, Grace Santa Maria, Farmingdale, N.Y.; Catherine D'Ambra and husband, Victor, Mastic, N.Y.; and Angela Rottkamp and husband, Robert, Melville, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael; and brothers, John and Robert.

A memorial service will be Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the James Wilson Funeral Home, 143 Gravity Road, Lake Ariel. Cremation will follow the service on Friday in the Lake Region Crematory at the James Wilson Funeral Home, Lake Ariel.
