Helen R. Pollitts Calabro, 93, of Carbondale, died early Wednesday at home. Her husband, Philip "Fitch" Calabro, died in 2009.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Carito Pollitts, Helen was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale.

She loved to bake cakes, especially chocolate, which was her favorite.

Surviving are two sons, Philip Calabro and wife, Georgann, Forest City; and Chip Calabro and wife, Patricia, Carbondale; a daughter, Donna Calabro, at home; and fiancé, Paul Killiany, Forest City; seven grandchildren, Todd, Kyle, Philip, Carrie, Christopher, Chippy and Stephen Calabro; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Anthony, Patrick, Frank, John, Dominick and Joseph Pollitts; and five sisters, Antoinette Scoblick, Margaret Carachilo, Grace Colandro, Mary Carito and Jennie Colandro.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Lawrence A. Gabriel Funeral Home, 2 Hospital St., Carbondale, with Mass at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Carbondale. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill.

Friends may call Friday, 5 to 8 p.m. Please omit sending flowers.
