Frank "Sonny" Smallacombe Jr., 73, a lifelong resident of Old Forge, died Sunday at home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Smallacombe, on June 6, 1998.

Born on May 28, 1939, son of the late Frank Sr. and Della Biscontini Smallacombe, Frank was educated in Old Forge schools before serving in the Army. An ironworker, he was a proud 40-year member of union Local 489. He was a former member of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Old Forge.

An outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, he was also an avid football and baseball fan. A loving father, grandfather and brother, Sonny will be dearly missed by those who loved him.

His family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for its exceptional care and to his sister, Diane Quick and husband, Ken, for the extraordinary care they've given to Sonny throughout his illness.

He is survived by two children, a daughter, Kimberly Smallacombe, Old Forge, and her fiancé, Mark Marchegiani, Archbald; and a son, Daniel Smallacombe Sr., and wife, Maria, Old Forge; a brother, Richard Smallacombe, Hughestown; a sister, Diane Quick and husband, Ken, Duryea; a grandson, Daniel Smallacombe Jr.; several nieces and nephews.

Blessing services will be Wednesday at 9 a.m., in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge, by the Rev. Francis L. Pauselli. Interment will follow in St. Mary of Czestochowa Cemetery, Greenwood section of Moosic.

Relatives and friends may pay their respects today from 5 to 8 p.m.
