Shirley Hill, 76, of Scranton, died early Monday.

She was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Harper and James Connelly and was raised by her grandparents, Sophie and George Phillips. Shirley was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1954. Upon graduation, she continued her education at Scranton State Hospital School of Nursing and later worked at Clarks Summit State Hospital for many years before retiring. She then was a secretary for her sons' auto repair shop, South Side Service and Collision, until the time of her passing.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and she was an avid bingo player. Shirley will be greatly missed by all the people whose lives she touched.
Surviving are sons, Jeffrey, Gerald, and James and wife, Beverly; two daughters, Linda Cardona and husband, John; and Lisa Auer and husband, Michael, all of Scranton. Shirley has 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a son, George Hill Jr.; and sister, Carol Hedgelin.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton. Interment will be private at Dunmore Cemetery.
