Vera G. Killian, 91, of Scranton died Wednesday at Hospice Community Care, Dunmore. She was the widow of Clarence J. Killian, who died Feb. 21, 1979.

Born December 28, 1921, Vera was the daughter of the late Harold L. and Agnes Russell Henriques. She was born and raised in Jersey City, N.J. Before and during the war, she was employed by Western Electric in Kearney, N.J., and moved to Scranton in 1950. She resided in the East Mountain section of Scranton before moving to Lutherwood. After raising her family, she worked for Sampter's and Racusin's.
She was a loving, devoted and patient mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She was a devout Catholic who was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church until it's closure. She died peacefully surrounded by her family.
Surviving are a son, Gerard Killian and wife, Mary Beth, Scranton; a daughter, Patricia Godowski and husband, Ronald, Moscow; three granddaughters, Jennifer and Lindsay Killian; and Lauren Godowski; a great-grandchild, Ryleigh; nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gregory Henriques.
The funeral will be Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the August J. Haas Funeral Home Inc., 202 Pittston Ave., Scranton, with Mass at 9 in Holy Name Of Jesus Church, East Mountain, to be celebrated by the Rev. Michael Bryant, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
